Colts announce practice squad addition at RB

The Indianapolis Colts announced Tuesday afternoon that they have made two additional practice moves, signing running back Trent Pennix and releasing kicker Spencer Shrader as a corresponding move to create space.

This transaction follows several trades made by the Colts on Tuesday morning, including Tyquan Lewis being placed on IR, Adam Gotsis being added to the 53-man roster and cornerback Kelvin Joseph being added to the team. ‘training.

Pennix is ​​a familiar face for the Colts. He went undrafted last April out of North Carolina State and signed with the Colts, where he spent the offseason and part of training camp.

Pennix appeared in the first preseason game against Denver, where he was injured. Pennix was waived/injured a few days later to make room for Demetric Felton, who the Colts claimed on waivers.

Although listed as a running back, Pennix played tight end in college where he filled a variety of roles including lining up in the formation, and impacted the game as a blocker, receiver passing and even ball carrier with 41 career rush attempts. .

Schrader, a 2024 undrafted rookie, spent training camp and the preseason with the Colts. He was kept on the practice squad with Matt Gay suffering a hernia early in the season and was active for the Colts’ Week 1 game with Houston, where Schrader made all three extra point attempts .

With Gay fully healthy, the Colts see no need to have an additional kicker on the practice squad.
