Matthieu Blazy of Bottega Veneta has fun with fashion and now with beauty

You’re trying to tell Matthieu Blazy that fashion isn’t fun anymore. Creative director of Bottega Veneta since 2021, the Franco-Belgian designer has designed each collection, fashion show and campaign with the greatest care. Only Blazy could make us believe that an all-leather shirt was flannel or that a sequin dress was covered in sequins.

Earlier this year, Blazy cleverly recruited internet heartthrob Jacob Elordi as an ambassador, where he imitated a rabbit – giving a suggestive nod to his critically acclaimed role in Emerald Fennell. Salt burn. Continuing the playful theme of the brand’s latest SS25 fashion show, Blazy replaced the regular seats with 60 beanbags inspired by Zanotta designs. Sacco and the animal world.

The true act of genius? Name the collection The arch and divide the seats into pairs. Blazy’s magical appetite for creativity is not only captivating, but also results in the most refined and meticulously crafted products. This is what makes Bottega Veneta great.

On the heels of this moment, Blazy unveils its very first collection of Bottega perfumes. Five fragrances with a distinct soul and strong personality, but united in a single story. Indeed, it is Venice and Intrecciato, Bottega Veneta’s famous leatherwork motif, which inspired these olfactory creations. Each perfume was imagined as a mixture of ingredients from different countries, the same ones that originated and are still found in Venice, the Maritime Republic. The brand’s desire is to “tell a global story, distilling essences from the four corners of the world to create evocative fragrances that awaken the senses and captivate the imagination”.

SunStroke is one of Blazy’s first olfactory inspirations. He wanted to reproduce the smell of skin after a day at the beach. The result is a Mediterranean-style perfume that combines the relaxing notes of French angelica oil and the sensuality of Moroccan orange blossom.

A fragrance created with distant notes that recall memories up close. A destiny shared with another protagonist of the collection, Acqua Sale, designed to evoke the scent of salt water on the body through an olfactory pyramid centered on woody labdanum from Spain and juniper oil from Macedonia.

Come with Me, contraility, combines the citrus notes of Italian bergamot and the powdery accords of French Iris butter. Then the scenery changes. Already Minuit and Alchemie, the two perfumes which complete the collection, are inspired by the night. They smell of darkness, seduction and mystery by combining Geranium from Madagascar and cardamom from Guatemala. On the other hand, Déjà Minuit evokes pink pepper from Brazil and myrrh from Somalia on the other.
