Man caught on camera stealing political sign in Old Lyme

OLD LYME, CT (WFSB) – Democrats in Old Lyme are looking to identify a political sign thief.

The Facebook group “The Old Lyme Democrats” posted video of the incident.

The video showed a man getting out of a vehicle and stealing a sign supporting Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

“As Democrats, we denounce this behavior and any attempt to suppress voter participation and free speech, which is what a political sign is all about,” the group wrote.

A woman who said it happened on her property said a police report was filed.

Channel 3 has requested more information.

In Connecticut, anyone who steals, defaces or vandalizes political signs is subject to criminal charges, including theft and criminal trespass.
