The minister assures that the authorities are ready for the rainy season

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: Minister of Public Works Noura Al-Mishaan chaired a meeting on Wednesday, confirming her commitment to overseeing preparations for the upcoming rainy season. She highlighted the efforts of the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Roads and Transport Authority to coordinate with other relevant authorities to ensure smooth operation during the season.

Following the meeting with government agencies involved in preparing for the rainy season, Dr Al-Mishaan highlighted the ministry’s focus on strengthening field teams in various locations to quickly manage the accumulation of water rain in coordination with several agencies. She urged citizens and residents to help maintain the cleanliness of stormwater drainage areas and avoid littering on the streets to ensure the efficient functioning of drainage systems.

During the meeting, the minister was briefed on the progress of maintenance teams, including cleaning of stormwater drainage systems and preparations of pumping stations. The discussion focused on the necessary measures to avoid malfunctions during heavy rains and to respond quickly to emergencies to ensure that traffic flow is not affected.

Additionally, the meeting focused on implementing urgent solutions to mitigate rain-related accidents and highlighted the importance of unifying the efforts of government agencies to protect individuals and property. Preventive measures were discussed to ensure public safety and minimize risks during the rainy season.

A representative of the Meteorology Department of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation provided weather forecasts for the coming period. The meeting was attended by a number of government agencies, including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, Civil Defense, National Guard, Kuwait Municipality, Kuwait Fire Brigade, Kuwait Oil Company and several other actors involved in the management of the rainy season.
