Ryanair announces two new winter routes from Cork Airport

Ryanair has announced two new winter routes from Cork Airport.

The budget airline has introduced new routes to Brussels Charleroi and Rome Ciampino for the winter season, as well as additional flights on its existing routes to Lanzarote and Manchester.

Talk to The EchoJade Kirwan, head of marketing at Ryanair, said: “We initially pitched Charleroi for the summer, and it worked really well, so we said we would keep it for the winter as a nice little city break.

“For Ciampino, we originally operated from Fiumicino, but it was a bit further away, so Ciampino was people’s preferred airport, so they don’t have delays getting to events or hotels and in to come back.

“We’ve seen tremendous growth in Cork, we’re up 85% on pre-Covid (traffic) figures, so we’re really invested in steady growth.

“I would also keep my eyes peeled for new summer routes – we will continue to grow gradually at a strong rate as Cork needs a bit of extra stimulation.” Tara Finn, Head of Aviation Business Development at Cork Airport, said: “We have had a great year at Cork Airport, and the expansion of Brussels into the winter and Rome as well is brilliant.

“We get a lot of feedback on the route from Brussels, with the Bruges Christmas market being something a lot of people are looking for.

“These destinations offer lots of different things in winter (for tourists), but especially the Christmas markets, for which both would be very useful.

“We are excited about the growth that is coming in Cork, we are growing year on year and we are forecasting even greater growth in 2025 which is great.”

To celebrate the launch of the new program in Cork, which includes a total of 23 routes, the airline has launched a limited-time seat sale for those traveling in November, with fares starting from €21.99, to purchase by October 3.
