In July, Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings donated $7 million to Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign, and the platform’s cancellation numbers jumped.

Hastings and his wife, Patty Quillin, had already donated $3 million to a Democratic committee created to end a recall attempt against California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Hastings also donated $7 million to a charter school-related political action committee in 2018.

“It’s unclear whether Harris’ endorsement affected Netflix beyond the five-day peak in cancellations. Their next financial report will be released in October, according to Bloomberg,” Fox Business said.
