Hinds County Coroner announces retirement after 25 years of service

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart has announced her retirement effective December 31, 2024. She has served the community for 25 years.

“It has been my absolute honor to serve the citizens of Hinds County,” Grisham-Stewart said. “After 25 years of being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, it is time for me to begin the next chapter of
my life. I want to thank my family, friends and the citizens of Hinds County for their prayers.

She was elected in 1999 and began serving as coroner in 2000.

In retirement, Grisham-Stewart said she looks forward to spending more time with her family and exploring new personal and professional opportunities.
