For the first time in 768 days and for the first time in its current One Raceway era, Goulburn will welcome a welcome return to racing this weekend.

The category that will cut the historic opening laps of the reborn One Raceway courtesy of Steve Shelley, formerly Wakefield Park, will be the Australian Superbike Championship, which will host the sixth round of the 2024 season.

Currently, Josh Waters leads the standings with a 19-point lead over Mike Jones and Broc Pearson.

Not only are there bragging rights for winning the first race at the new One Raceway, but there is also a championship up for grabs being the penultimate round of the season.

In addition to the Superbikes, there are the Supersport, Supersport 300 and R3 Cup competitors, as well as the bLU cRU Oceania Junior Cup.

There’s also a treat for four-wheel fans with Supercars star Broc Feeney piloting his current Gen3 Camaro and Adelaide 500-winning 2022 ZB Commodore Supercars around the revived 2.2km circuit.

This weekend will be the culmination of one of the great comebacks in Australian motorsport in recent years.

Since its construction in 1993, the famous Wakefield Park circuit has become a favorite venue, ranging from track days to what was then called the Konica V8 Supercar Series.

But due to an ongoing legal dispute over noise restrictions, the gates were closed in August 2022, leaving a huge void in NSW motorsport.

However, the track found a savior in Shelley, who purchased the circuit from Benalla Auto Club and has spent the last 18 months not only bringing it back to life, but revamping it for a new era.

Broc Feeney will drive the 2022 Adelaide 500-winning Commodore.

It has installed new layouts that can be used in both directions in an Australian first, as well as streamlined banked corners, new pit facilities and viewing mounds that will be enjoyed by fans this weekend.

All of this will be on display when Feeney and the Australian Superbikes roar around One Raceway this weekend.

The last round of the ASBK at Wakefield Park took place as recently as April 2022, when Jones and Wayne Maxwell shared the wins, while the last race meeting was the sixth round of the MRA State Championship on the 28th. August later that year.

But Friday, October 4 will mark the start of a new era as motorcycles take to the track at One Raceway and see a dream come true.

Friday entry is free, while Saturday tickets start from $5 and Sunday from $15, available HERE
