Young man arrested for raping schoolgirl

Jehangirabad police arrested a youth for sexually assaulting a class 9 girl, the accused lived in the same locality and knew the victim.

The police registered a case against the accused identified as Yashwant.

On Wednesday evening, the police registered an FIR following the victim’s complaint and started searching for the accused.

Later during the investigation, the accused was traced and arrested.

SHO Ashutosh Upadhyay said the 16-year-old girl lives in a locality in Jehangirabad area and is a student of Class 9. A youth named Yashwant lives in a rented house in the same locality. He hails from Sehore district. The two became friends because they lived in the same neighborhood.

They had known each other for about a year, when they became close. A month ago, the young man began physical relations with the teenager after luring her. After this, he began to physically exploit the schoolgirl by threatening her with defamation.

The accused repeatedly pressured her to have physical relations. Harassed by this, the student told her family everything and went to the police station to file a complaint.

The police registered a case under sections of rape and POCSO Act and took the accused into custody.
