Miami Dolphins OLB Jaelan Phillips Tracker Includes New Post and Roster Status

Miami Dolphins forward Jaelan Phillips, who is sidelined with his second straight season-ending injury, took to social media Thursday morning to tell fans not to feel sorry for him.

Instead, according to Phillips, they should feel sorry for whoever has to face him when he returns next season.

He included an inspiring message in his post that states that he will not give up on his dream no matter how many times it is knocked down. He trusts in his higher power. He said he would come back stronger than ever.

His message was basically: don’t give up on your dreams.

Phillips announced on Instagram Wednesday that he will miss the remainder of the season with a lower extremity injury. It was learned Thursday that he suffered a partially torn ACL and will require reconstructive surgery, meaning his 2024 campaign is over.

The Dolphins placed Phillips on injured reserve Thursday afternoon.

Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel told the media Wednesday that the injury was just devastating news for Phillips, who has worked very hard to come back from the torn Achilles he suffered last season last.

“It’s not exciting at all. Especially when you see someone working so hard to earn every reputation. It’s tough and I think Jaelan (Phillips), as he continually impresses me since I’ve known him, he recognizes that it’s – in a contact sport, it’s a contact injury and he doesn’t know necessarily the why. right now, but he knows he’s not going to be worse but he’s going to be better at all these things,” McDaniel said. “So I was very impressed – you don’t try to predict how someone is going to reacting to that, understanding that there must be a multitude of emotions. He is very positive and already working on the process, and as football evolves you have to prepare a lot of people to fill a role like that and I know the guys have a lot of motivation to accept this challenge because it is a formidable challenge.

McDaniel also explained that Phillips’ injury occurred in the same spot when safety Jordan Poyer was injured.

Outside linebackers coach Ryan Crow said Thursday morning that Phillips’ mindset and determination will allow him to overcome this obstacle.

“You feel for him. And everything he’s been through. What’s great about Jaelan is his mindset, the way he approaches things and the way he thinks. So I think he’s in a big open space and he’ll talk to you about where he is and what he needs to do,” Crowe said. “But obviously any time someone goes down, it’s the hardest part of this league, but it’s part of this league. And you feel for him, but you also encourage him to work hard to come back. “
