Nebraska Secretary of State Announces Public Hearings Initiative

The Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office has announced legally required public hearing dates for the six initiatives that will be placed on the Nov. 5 ballot.

The first round of hearings, for residents of the 1st Congressional District, will take place in Room 1525 of the State Capitol.

The schedule is as follows:

1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m., Paid Sick Leave Initiative (436)

6 p.m.-9 p.m., Medical Cannabis Patient Protection and Regulation Initiatives (437 and 438)

1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m., Constitutional amendment to protect women and children (434)

6 p.m.-9 p.m., Protecting the right to abortion Constitutional amendment (439)

Hearings in the 3rd Congressional District will be held at the NACO West Training Center in Ogallala and will take place on the following days and times:

October 21 (Mountain Time)

1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Medical Cannabis Patient Protection and Regulation Initiatives

6-9 p.m., Paid Sick Leave Initiative

9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Partial referendum on scholarships in private education

1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m., Protecting the Right to Abortion Constitutional Amendment

6 p.m.-9 p.m., Constitutional amendment to protect women and children.

Hearings for the 2nd Congressional District will be held in Bootstrapper Hall at the University of Nebraska’s Thompson Alumni Center on the Omaha campus. The schedule is:

1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m., Paid Sick Leave Initiative

6 p.m.-9 p.m., Medical Cannabis Patient Protection and Regulation Initiatives (437 and 438)

9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Constitutional amendment to protect women and children

1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m., Protecting the Right to Abortion Constitutional Amendment

6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Partial referendum on scholarships in private education.

The Division of Elections has prepared informational brochures on the ballot measures, which are available online in English and Spanish. Paper copies of the brochures will be available at county election offices as well as at public hearings.

“This is a record number of petition-initiated ballot measures on a general election ballot in Nebraska,” Secretary of State Bob Evnen said in a statement. “Voters should take the time to consider each measure before entering the voting booth. »
