Broadway cast of ‘Mean Girls’ at party in Cancun on October 3

Get in, loser, we’re going to Mexico!

CheapCaribbean Vacations hosted what it dubbed “the most exciting party of the year” this week with the Broadway cast of “Mean Girls” at the Grand Oasis Cancun.

Ashley De La Rosa (Regina George), Eric Huffman (Damian), Olivia Kaufmann (who played the dual role of Gretchen Wieners and Janis), English Bernhardt (Cady Heron) and Zurin Villanueva (who played the role of Karen Smith but also helped play Gretchen) kicked off the festivities Wednesday afternoon with a pool party at the all-inclusive hotel’s beach club.

After a five-minute performance, which was almost thwarted by a passing downpour, the stars taught swimsuit-clad guests (including Page Six) the iconic “Jingle Bell Rock” choreography, made famous in the 2004 film starring Lindsay Lohan , Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried. and Lacey Chabert.

De La Rosa, Huffman, Kaufmann, Bernhardt and Villanueva then relaxed in the pool and enjoyed pink drinks with other tourists before heading to rehearsals for their hour-long show, which was fittingly scheduled for on October 3.

Produced by Broadway Plus and directed by Christopher Metzger-Timson, Thursday night’s cabaret-style concert at the Oasis Arena saw the cast perform a selection of songs from the Tony-nominated musical adaptation of “Mean Girls,” including ” A Cautionary Tale”, “Meeting Plastics” and “Apex Predator”.

Huffman then called on audience members who learned the “Jingle Bell Rock” dance at the pool the day before to come on stage and join the cast in channeling their inner Regina, Cady, Karen and Gretchen – Santa hats and all. .

The event concluded with a VIP cocktail and meet-and-greet at Grand Oasis’ Miramar restaurant, where De La Rosa, Huffman, Kaufmann, Bernhardt, Villanueva and their team, including music director Jacob Yates, drummer Elena Bonomo and guitarist David Kawamura, worked in the room overlooking the white sand beach and sparkling Caribbean Sea.

Despite flights home the next morning, we hear that some cast members rightly kept the party going by heading to the hotel’s nightclub, Kinky, late in the evening.
