Digital literacy courses are offered

As more people connect to the Internet, the Door County Broadband Office, United Way of Door County, University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension and more than half a dozen other partners want to make sure that you have the skills to stay safe while sailing. . The free courses are part of Digital Inclusion Week, which runs from October 7-11. According to BroadbandNow, just over 67% of Door County residents have access to internet speeds above 25 Mbps. These numbers are expected to improve in the coming year as municipalities continue to strike deals with internet service providers to bring broadband to their communities. This includes the Town of Sturgeon Bay, which recently announced its partnership with AT&T. Broadband Coordinator Jessica Hatch says these are great resources offered as the Internet becomes more complex for all users, especially seniors.

The firefighters of Brussels-Union-Gardner – South Station will organize sessions on “Netiquette”, Internet safety, ethics and the identification of credible sources on October 8. Northeast Wisconsin Technical College’s Sister Bay campus will host sessions on netiquette and internet safety for children on October 9.
