NCAA Division I Council Coordinating Committee recommends eliminating CHL rule

The NCAA Division I Council will meet next week (Tuesday and Wednesday), and the topic of CHL players’ NCAA eligibility is on their agenda.

According to emails obtained by College Hockey Insider, the NCAA Division I Council Coordinating Committee authorized a review of student-athlete eligibility in June. The NCAA applied the review to men’s hockey and skiing. The review focused on student-athletes’ involvement with professional teams prior to their initial full-time enrollment.

The committee reviewed eligibility concepts to determine if any of these concepts should be considered for action at the October meeting. The committee recommended that the DI council consider passing emergency legislation at its meeting next week to eliminate the separate application of the legislation to men’s hockey and skiing.
