Man suspected of fatally stabbing mother held without bail, report says

A Berlin man was held without bail Friday in Worcester Superior Court, accused of stabbing his mother in July, the Telegram & Gazette reported.

John Evans, 28, had previously been charged with armed assault with intent to kill and assault and battery on an elderly person before being upgraded to murder on September 20, the Telegram wrote. He has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.

Around 10:30 p.m. on July 22, John Evans called 911 while at home and told police he “killed his mother” Karin Evans after “stabbing her in the chest,” wrote the Telegram citing Clinton District Court records.
