Two more AL, Jubo League leaders arrested over Emon killing

Police arrested two more Awami League and Jubo League leaders from the city’s Pallabi thana area last night over the killing of Emon in firing during the anti-discrimination student movement.

The arrested are – Pallabi’s ward no two unit AL general secretary Md Akbar Hossain Jony and ward no three unit Jubo League leader Md Deen Islam.

Being tipped off, police arrested the duo from the city’s Pallabi area on Saturday night, a press release of Detective Branch (DB) of police said.

Police arrested them as their involvement in Emon’s murder was found through security video footage of the place of occurrence and its adjoining areas, it said.

The arrestees were sent to the court.

Earlier on 3 October, police arrested Pallabi thana Jubo League law affairs secretary Sheikh Mohammad Wasim for his involvement in the Emon murder.

The press release said Emon Hossain Akash took part in the anti-discrimination student movement in front of Popular Diagonistic Center at Mipur 10 on 4 August last.

Leaders and activists of the AL and its associate bodies allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on the protesters and Emon suffered critical bullet wounds.

Emon was rushed to the local Azmal Hospital where the on-duty physicians pronounced him dead.

A murder case was lodged with Pallabi police station on 27 August.
