Motorcyclist in serious condition after crash in Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision Friday evening, according to the Frederick Police Department.

The accident occurred around 6:50 p.m. on October 4, 2024, near the intersection of Orchard Way and Apple Way. Police say the driver of a 2024 Suzuki motorcycle lost control and struck several vehicles.

The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he remains in serious condition. No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Authorities believe alcohol may have been a factor in the incident. The results of the investigation will be submitted to the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office for possible charges.

  • Stafford County Sheriff Reports Road Closures After Heavy Machinery Accidents

    STAFFORD, Va. — Two separate accidents involving heavy machinery caused road closures in Stafford County over the weekend, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

    The first incident occurred Friday evening when a driver carrying a skid steer attempted to drive under a height-restricted underpass on Harrell Road. The vehicle struck the underpass, forcing authorities to close the road for investigation and cleanup.

    Earlier Saturday, Deputy General McCaulley responded to a crash on Widewater Road involving a forklift that entered the roadway and landed on a passing car. The accident led to a new road closure.

    Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported in either incident.

    The sheriff’s office reminded drivers to “drive safely and obey all road signs” to avoid similar accidents.

  • 10-year-old arrested after driving stolen car past Minneapolis playground

    MINNEAPOLIS — A 10-year-old boy was arrested after driving a stolen vehicle past a playground full of children in north Minneapolis, authorities said Friday. No injuries were reported in the Sept. 20 incident near Nellie Stone Johnson School.

    Minneapolis police said the boy, whose name was not released because of his age, was taken into custody and booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center on Thursday on charges of second-degree assault degree with probable cause.

    Police say the child has a history of criminal activity, with at least 30 entries in criminal records dating back to May 2023. He has been arrested twice previously for car theft and is a suspect in more than 12 theft cases car, robbery. , assault with a dangerous weapon and other offenses.

    “No child present on the playground was struck by the driver,” police said in a statement.

    The investigation is ongoing and no additional details have been released.
