Salem police arrest Marion man for allegedly firing gun through motel room door

Salem police arrested Arthur McLoren, 55, of Marion, for reckless discharge of a firearm and criminal damage to property after allegedly firing a firearm through his motel room door.

Police report they received a call that McLoren thought someone was chasing him. He then allegedly fired four or five shots from inside his room at the Days Inn, through the exterior door. Fortunately, police said, no one was outside and there were no injuries.

McLoren was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on formal charges.

The events occurred on Friday around noon.
