AIIMS Delhi doctors to hold candle march in support of protesting young doctors at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital – India TV

RG Kar doctors protest: The Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) of AIIMS New Delhi will organize a candle march on October 9 in support of the protest of young doctors of RG Kar Medical College, who continued fast unto death on Saturday evening. Young doctors protest against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the hospital.

In an official statement, the AIIMS said the resident doctors will hold a silent candlelight protest march on October 9 at 6 pm from the JLN auditorium as part of the continued demand for justice for the victim of the incident of RG Kar.

“Demand rapid and decisive legal action”

“The Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) of AIIMS, New Delhi expresses unwavering solidarity with the resident doctors of West Bengal, who have courageously gone on hunger strike to demand justice for Abhaya. We salute their courageous decision to taking such a drastic step to draw attention to the grave injustice surrounding this horrific incident. This action reflects the deep sense of helplessness felt by resident doctors in the face of inadequate measures to ensure justice. to ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice,” the statement said.

“The medical community cannot remain silent when one of our own has been subjected to such unspeakable brutality. We urge the authorities to immediately respond to the demands of the protesting doctors. RDA AIIMS remains steadfast in its support to our colleagues at West Bengal and will continue to work for justice for Abhaya.

“We will hold a silent candlelight protest march on October 9, 2024 at 6 p.m. from the JLN Auditorium as part of our continued demand for justice for the victim of the RG KAR incident,” he said .

Young doctors start fast until death

Young doctors protesting against the rape and murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital continued to the death on October 5, saying their demands had not been met by the Bengal government Western. The doctors had started a sit-in at Dorina Crossing in Dharmatala on October 4, setting a deadline of 24 hours for the state government to respond to their demands as promised.

The doctor said they would participate in the service as promised but would not eat anything. At present, six young doctors will initiate the fast, he added. The young doctors started the sit-in after calling off the “total work stoppage”.

Kolkata doctor rape and murder case

On August 9, a trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered while on duty at the hospital. Later, the half-naked body of the 32-year-old woman was found in the seminar room of the Kolkata government hospital. A civic volunteer was arrested in connection with the crime the next day. Following this, the Calcutta High Court ordered the transfer of the investigation into the case from the Calcutta Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the second week of August.
