The deaths of two people found in a Cardiff house were the result of a suspected murder-suicide, a neighbor has claimed.

It comes after a community was shocked by the discovery of the bodies of a man and woman inside a semi-detached house yesterday.

Detectives launched an investigation after emergency services were called to a house in Morfa Crescent, in the Trowbridge area of ​​Cardiff, yesterday afternoon following the “sudden” deaths of two people.

The bodies are believed to be those of a married couple who were found alongside their dead pet cocker spaniel following alleged gunshots heard in the house.

Today, a neighbor claimed their deaths were a “murder-suicide, a mercy killing”.

The neighbor, who has not been named and said he knew the couple well, told MailOnline: ‘The police are not looking for anyone else and I have been told it was a murder-suicide , of a mercy killing.

“Apparently one of the neighbors heard three loud bangs coming from the house.

“Everyone is in shock, they were a lovely couple, completely devoted to each other.

“What upsets people the most is that their cocker spaniel was also killed.”

The husband, estimated at 70 years old like his partner, is said to be retired. He cared for his wife who used a wheelchair and who neighbors said was in “poor health”.

South Wales Police told Metro.co.uk they are continuing their investigation into the “sudden deaths of two people at a property in Trowbridge, Cardiff”.

The force said in a statement: “Next of kin are being provided with assistance and inquiries are underway to establish the cause and manner of their deaths.

“Formal identification and post-mortem examinations will take place in due course. »

He thanked the local community “for their patience and understanding while the cordons remain in place”.

Another resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said the couple were “nice” and “calm”.

The husband, who was injured playing rugby in his 20s, was a referee and official evaluator checking other referees, the neighbor said.
