A YouTube star crashed his $200,000 McLaren sports car during a live stream – and a clip of the incident has gone viral.

During a live stream on the Kick platform on the morning of Saturday, October 5, Jack Doherty, 20, filmed himself and a friend he called Michael while driving down a Miami highway in his McLaren 570S custom designed, according to the Daily Mail.

A video of the incident — which has since been removed from Kick — shows Doherty looking at his phone while driving while it was raining heavily, according to the outlet. He suddenly lost control of the car, which skidded across several lanes before colliding with a metal barrier.

The aftermath of Jack Doherty’s car accident

A video shared on Doherty’s X account (formerly Twitter) shows the aftermath of the incident, in which he calls for help as some passersby apparently stopped to help open the driver’s side window. Doherty continues to film and can be heard asking one of the people assisting him to hold his camera as he gets out of the car.

“My fucking car!” Doherty says in the video, before calling to his passenger: “Are you okay?”

More than 185,000 people were watching the broadcast of Doherty’s Kick at the time of the accident. Daily Mail and TMZ reported. In a YouTube video posted to his channel in June 2023, Doherty revealed that the McLaren cost $202,850 and that he had since wrapped the car in a custom design with blue paint splatters.

The content creator’s Kick account was deleted following the incident and his page now links to an error message. The streaming platform’s community guidelines state that its users should “prioritize your safety and that of those around you by avoiding dangerous (behavior).”

“Prioritize the safety of yourself, your audience, the public and anyone else involved,” the guidelines add. “If anyone is in danger or needs help, turn off your camera and contact local emergency medical services immediately.”

Neither Kick nor Doherty immediately responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

After Doherty’s aftermath video garnered more than 14 million views on X, many of his fellow YouTubers and livestreamers shared messages on the platform criticizing Doherty’s behavior.

“We live in a world where fame is more sought after than compassion,” streamer Dakotaz (real name Brett Hoffman) wrote in a message responding to the clip. “One child, more concerned with recording and texting, didn’t even check to see if his friend was sitting in the passenger seat. His first thought was his car. This is the disease we are facing .”

“Your friend’s face is gushing blood but you make sure he keeps filming from all angles…it’s nice,” YouTuber Corinna Kopf wrote in another post.

Doherty has previously drawn criticism for similar incidents on his YouTube and Kick accounts. In November 2023, he posted a YouTube video featuring footage of him overturning a golf cart while his girlfriend was in the passenger seat.
