Opening of the conference of Italian archaeological missions in Türkiye – News from the embassies

The 15th edition of the Conference which brings together the Italian archaeological missions in Turkey every year, sponsored by the Italian Embassy in Ankara and organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul, was inaugurated within the framework of the Venice Palace in Istanbul. This year’s conference, organized by the Italian Ambassador to Turkey, Giorgio Marrapodi, brought together the Director General of Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alessandro De Pedys, and the Rector of Istanbul University, Osman Bulent Zulfikar. .


Italy, through its seventeen missions, out of more than 280 in the world, and the dozens of researchers who visit Anatolia each year, is one of the countries that contribute the most to the valorization of archaeological excavations in Turkey, thanks to its deeply rooted presence and the quality of its excavation, analysis and research work. This activity is always carried out in total synergy with colleagues from the Turkish universities concerned.
