Former MP Sheuly Azad remanded for 8 days in Brahmanbaria murder case

After the court’s decision, she was transferred to the district prison.

A court in Brahmanbaria has remanded former MP Umme Fatema Nazma Begum Sheuly Azad to eight-day judicial remand in connection with a murder case.

Justice Swagata Samya of the Brahmanbaria Magistrate’s Court-5 passed the order today (October 7), said court inspector Md Habibullah Sarkar.

After the court’s decision, she was transferred to the district jail, the inspector said.

The murder case dates back to 2021, following the death of Liton Mia during anti-Modi protests in the Sarail Bishwaroad area.

The case was filed by Maulana Sultan Uddin on September 3 on behalf of the victim, naming 67 people, including Sheuly, as well as several hundred other unidentified people.

Sheuly was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) police from her residence in Dhaka’s Niketan last night.
