Evansville man accused of raping woman he met on Snapchat

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Evansville man was arrested Friday and charged with rape following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault earlier this year.

According to an affidavit, a woman reported to investigators in June that a man she met on Snapchat had sexual intercourse with her in his apartment, despite saying several times that she did not want to have sex. Police say messages on the alleged victim’s phone indicate she was trying to have a friend pick her up from the apartment. About ten minutes later, the woman messaged the friend saying, “He really just raped me even though I said no multiple times.”

Police identified the suspect as Carlos Miguel Rodriguez Geronimo, 22. During an interview, Geronimo allegedly told authorities he had sex with the victim, but claimed the intercourse was consensual. He also said he believed the victim was under the influence when she was in his apartment.

Geronimo was arrested and charged with rape. He has since been released from the Vanderburgh County Jail.
