Kayla Harrison shocked when Alex Pereira’s leg kick causes UFC content creator bruises

Kayla Harrison expressed her concerns to Nina-Marie Daniele about the thigh bruises she picked up sparring with Alex Pereira.

Daniele is a UFC content creator who regularly features the current light heavyweight champion in her videos.

She took to social media in early October to show the effects of a leg kick from Pereira.

In his post, Daniele said that Pereira only used ‘1% power’ and that he couldn’t imagine what ‘100% Flame power to the head’ would feel like.

“I mean, for God’s sake, this gets worse every day. I have bruises under my leg,” she added in the video.

Pereira’s first language is Portuguese and he is known for using the word ‘chama’ regularly in the media. This translates to ‘let’s go’ or ‘let’s go’ when used as slang.

In an interview this week with UFC star Harrison, Daniele discussed his war injuries.

“That was shit,” Harrison said, before Daniele responded by saying Pereira ‘barely’ touched her.

“Do you get hurt easily? Do you have enough iron? Harrison added, revealing that he also went through something similar when training with Pereira.

“He has that (strength), I trained with him too and we were like kicking. I mean, he’s also a 250-pound man and you’re modest,” Harrison said.

Harrison is a former Olympic gold medalist and current number 2 in women’s bantamweight, behind champions Julianna Pena and Raquel Pennington.

She beat Ketlen Vieira at UFC 307 in October, on the undercard of Pereira’s victory over Khalil Rountree Jr.

The win over Vieira was just Dana White’s second fight in the promotion since his debut in April 2024.

Harrison revealed that his victory at UFC 307 was in danger of not happening because he went to the hospital before the fight.

She submitted MMA veteran Holly Holm in the second round of her debut at UFC 300, which was also headlined by Pereira, who knocked out Jamahal Hill in the first round.

The former Olympian won gold as part of the women’s judo team that represented the United States at London 2012 and Rio 2016.

In the co-main event of UFC 307, Pena was crowned the new women’s bantamweight champion following a controversial split decision victory over Pennington.

Pena ignored Harrison in her post-fight Octagon interview, instead criticizing former champion Amanda Nunes.

Nunes retired from MMA after beating Irene Aldana in June 2023 as bantamweight and featherweight champion.

UFC president Dana White said he would “absolutely love” Nunes to return to his organization.
