How to get the water ending

THE Silent Hill 2 the remake is officially here and there are some alternative endings to the story. The story follows James Sunderland returning to the spooky town of Silent Hill to search for his wife Mary as he struggles with his inner demons and comes face to face with his dark past.

Players must tread carefully to get this specific ending and do a few things first that fit the narrative. The game developers Bloober Team wanted players to have complete authority and control over James’ destiny, and this ending is one of the many ways to interpret James’ journey.

Silent Hill 2 remake lets players dictate how James’ story ends

Confronting reality and facing the past can often be the same thing.

There are a few ways to end the story of the remake of Silent Hill 2others can only be accessed by launching a New Game Plus file, such as Dog, Rebirth, and UFO. There are much easier ways to finish the game, like leaving the city, and this guide will teach you how not to do that during the water ending.

If the ending the players got was leaving town, which heavily requires them to monitor James’ health, this alternate ending is the exact opposite. Players will have to make sure that James’ health is deteriorating, which represents his unwillingness to live without his wife by his side.

Tip

Avoid using syringes and other health items to achieve this ending.

Silent Hill 2 It is not for the faint of heart and having health problems can put them at risk of immediate death. James will find the Head of the Pyramidthe ultimate manifestation of James’ guilt, and this enemy can pack a nasty punch. Players might do something risky, like willingly taking damage while running away with what little health James has left in the tank.

Players will also need to open their inventory and inspect Angela’s knife. Doing so represents James’ willingness to inflict self-harm upon concluding that his life is meaningless and empty without Mary. James will also meet a character named Maria, and just like the ending where he leaves town, don’t accept her advances and limit any form of interaction as much as possible.

Failure to do so will grant players another ending. It is worth noting that players cannot pay attention to this character; however, Maria is now their responsibility and must be protected from any threat in Silent Hill 2. Later in the story, James will have to leave her behind and players will be able to move forward without looking back or thinking about her.

Avoid looking at Mary’s photograph because that would represent James’ will to live. The point of this ending is that James has lost his momentum and cannot accept his wife’s death at the hands of him.

This alternate ending is without a doubt the darkest in the Silent Hill 2 remake

Living without a purpose is reason enough for James to assume his own at the end of the story.

James Sunderland is a broken man who hopes to find his wife dead in the mysterious town of Silent Hill; unfortunately, all he sees is pain and despair. The foggy city makes it difficult for players to navigate and is plagued by creatures intent on harming the player. It’s important to note that these creatures are the literal definition of things made of nightmares.

These atrocious creatures are the fruit of James’s creative and twisted imagination. Maybe it’s all the guilt and regret that weighs on him for what he did to his wife before the events of Silent Hill 2.

James gets in his car and drives to the lake with his wife’s remains sitting in the back of the car. This ending shows James not wanting to forgive himself and having no reason to continue without Mary.

Unlike the ending where he begs the Elder Gods of Silent Hill to bring his wife back, or leave town and live a life of redemption, this is a sad ending and a desperate attempt to reconnect with a dead loved one and escape your past.
