James Gunn shares the first look at Superman’s dog Krypto in the 2025 film and reveals the real-life inspiration behind changing the script to include him

Superman’s old canine friend Krypto will be in DC’s next Superman movie – and director James Gunn has shared the exciting reason behind adding the pup to the script.

“Krypto hits the screen in Superman this summer. Krypto was inspired by our dog Ozu, who we adopted shortly after I started writing Superman. Ozu, who came from a backyard hoarding situation with 60 other dogs and had never met humans, It was problematic, to say the least,” Gunn wrote on Twitter.
