WATCH: Fake police officer tries to extort Rs 50,000 from woman by vaping in auto rickshaw; See what he does next

In a disturbing incident in the suburbs of Mumbai, a video has emerged on social media where a woman, allegedly stopped by a fake police officer, was asked to pay a hefty fine for smoking using an e-cigarette in a rickshaw.

According to a post on the social media platform Reddit, the woman’s brother detailing the incident in a post said: “My sister was coming home from college, holding her vape, when this guy got into the car she was in. in front of the MIDC, and she is alone. He says he is a police officer and demands ₹50,000 for the crime of smoking.

The post went on to read how the fake police officer sat next to her in the same car and started using his jack. He also tried to intimidate her by threatening her.

“He says if she doesn’t have the money, she will be taken to Powai police station and will drive the car there. She was understandably shaken and called me in a panic,” the post continued.

The lady’s brother informed her that the guy was a fraud and was trying to extort money from her. The woman then, quickly following her brother’s instructions, began recording the man.

“As soon as she did this, his behavior completely changed – he became scared and quickly got out of the car. Before leaving, my sister told him her name while she was panicking, he said something like “ye shaani ko baadme dekh lunga”, which given what our country is going through is just wow.”

The person was not wearing a police uniform and did not present a badge or identification when questioned.

Here is the video:

Some users criticized the car driver for allowing the man to leave, while many others contacted Mumbai Police on X (formerly Twitter), calling for action against the impersonator. However, the police are yet to respond regarding the video.
