‘Completely flooded’ tractor-trailer caused serious delays in Mass. Pike

A tractor-trailer caught fire Wednesday morning on a Route 146 exit from Interstate 90 in Millbury, causing severe delays on the highway and surrounding roads.

Interstate 90 was closed in both directions at Exit 94 around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday morning due to the fire, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said. on X.

As of about 8:15 a.m., eastbound and westbound traffic on the highway was open again. Exit 94 remained closed.

WBZ Newsradio 1030 reported a tractor-trailer was “completely engulfed” in flames and traffic approached the driveway.

Mass 511 shows backups to Auburn on Mass. Pike approaches the Millbury exit where the tractor-trailer was on fire.

Massachusetts State Police did not immediately respond to a request for information about possible injuries.
