BROOKLYN, Ohio

Shoplifting, Brookpark Road: On September 20, a Walmart loss prevention officer called police after observing a customer stealing merchandise from the Brookpark Store.

An arriving officer spoke with the caller, who said a male suspect paid for two pizzas but forgot to pay for the deck of Pokémon cards he picked up at self-checkout.

When confronted, the man tried to return the letters.

After his arrest, he told the officer that his daughter was waiting in the car.

The 12-year-old girl was given a ride to prison, where her father was being processed.

The Cleveland man was cited for robbery.

Robbery of a Different Kind, Brookpark Road: On September 29, a Cleveland resident approached a police officer about missing $100.

The man said he was shopping at Walmart when he accidentally left $100 in cash in an ATM.

Surveillance footage confirmed the man’s story.

It also showed that a woman found the money and refused to give it to a Walmart employee.

The woman left the store. However, she checked out using a credit card, which was assigned to a Cleveland woman.

The officer spoke with the suspect, who said she went to Walmart customer service, where she was told the money would be hers if no one came back asking for it.

Furthermore, the suspect said that the employee never asked to keep the money in the store.

The officer told her to return the funds, which she did the next day.
