West Perry defeated Susquenita 2-1 to win D3, Class 1A hockey finals

West Perry’s top-seeded field hockey team scored two first-quarter goals against Susquenita in the District 3, Class 1A semifinals Wednesday night for a 2-1 victory.

The Mustangs, now 20-1, advance to Saturday’s D3, 1A championship against third-seeded Boiling Springs (17-4) at John Frederick Field in Mechanicsburg at 10 a.m.

Fourth-seeded Suquenita (16-3-2) will host seventh-seeded Camp Hill (17-3-2) in a consolation match for third place.

Jordan Byers opened the scoring with a penalty shot at 7:01 of the first quarter.

Madison Bell scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal at the 3:17 mark of the first quarter with assists from Byers and Autumn Albright.

Sydney Hetrick scored a goal for Susqenita in the third quarter to cut the lead to 2-1, but the Blackhawks could not tie the game.

Marty Morrison made three saves in goal for West Perry, which defeated Susquenita 12-4.
