2024 Presidential Election Updates: Kamala Harris and Donald Trump continue their campaign blitz

Vice President Kamala Harris vowed during a speech in Reno, Nevada, on Tuesday that “nothing in the world” will stop her from fighting for Americans.

Referring to her time as a prosecutor in the neighboring state of California, she said, “A lot of people here know that I’m not afraid of tough fights.”

“And it is my promise to you that if you give me the opportunity to fight on your behalf as president, there is nothing in the world that will get in the way of me fighting for you,” Harris added. “For the people.”

At her first general election rally in northern Nevada, she also criticized former President Donald Trump’s comments on protecting women.

“He said, on the issue of freedom of choice and reproductive freedom, he said he will do whatever he wants because, quote, he – this is his perspective – he will do it ‘whether the women like it or not.’ “Whether the women like it or not,” Harris said. “Can you imagine?”

“He doesn’t believe women should have authority or control over their own bodies. This is the same person who said women should be punished for their choices,” she said, echoing comments she made during campaign stops throughout the day. “This is someone who simply does not respect women’s freedom, or women’s intelligence to make decisions about their own lives.”

She closed the meeting with a phrase she has used in recent days, telling attendees that “in less than 90 days, he or I will be sitting in the Oval Office,” explaining that while Trump will walk into that room with an enemies list, she’s willing to walk in with a to-do list.

Although Harris’ remarks were interrupted several times by protesters, she addressed them and said, “We are here because we are fighting for a democracy.”

She said it was “okay” and “good” that they were protesting the event because “we are fighting for the right to be heard and not be jailed for expressing their opinions.”

“We know what’s at stake,” Harris assured.
