Penn Yan man charged with assault faces felony charges after fleeing the scene of a domestic incident

A Penn Yan man is facing multiple charges, including first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family crime, after he allegedly violated a protective order and assaulted an individual, according to Penn Yan police.

On October 25, at approximately 3:13 p.m., officers arrested Jeffery A. McClain, 36, following a reported domestic dispute in the village. Police allege McClain hit the victim in the face with a cell phone during an argument, despite having an active protective order against him.

McClain had left the scene before police arrived, but was later located, taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail. He now awaits arraignment on charges of first-degree criminal contempt, aggravated family crime and second-degree harassment.
