A New York-bound Delta Airlines Boeing 767 aircraft made an emergency stop due to a technical incident at Senegal’s Blaise Diagne International Airport on Saturday, the West African country’s transport ministry said.

The pilot managed to stop the plane, which was carrying 216 passengers, safely and there were no injuries reported, the ministry said in a statement.

“The plane, during takeoff, performed an acceleration maneuver followed by an emergency stop due to a technical incident,” he stated.

The incident occurred a day after the US Federal Aviation Administration announced it would open a new safety review at Boeing following an in-flight emergency in January.

Senegal’s national civil aviation agency and its Investigations and Analysis Office will investigate the incident, he said.
