Trinity’s police chief is resigning from Morgan County Schools and will remain on the force

Nov. 1 – After accepting the position of full-time district safety coordinator at Morgan County Schools earlier this month, Trinity Police Chief Randy Hughes submitted his resignation on Oct. 23 and the school board approved it during a board meeting on Thursday.

Morgan County Schools Superintendent Tracie Turrentine said the city of Trinity was able to match the salary the school district offered to Hughes and he ultimately decided to stay with their police department. She said the safety coordinator position was now vacant.

A resignation letter from Patrick Patterson, director of programs at Morgan County Schools, was also approved by the school board and Patterson’s resignation is effective April 1.
