Prison guard dies by suicide – ThePrint

Kendrapara (Odisha), Nov 2 (PTI) A 25-year-old guard of Kendrapara sub-jail died by suicide, police said on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Bijay Parida, a native of Gurudijhatia village in Cuttack district.

Other guards found Parida hanging from the ceiling fan in the prison barracks on Friday evening. They informed the jail superintendent and took him to the district headquarters hospital in Kendrapara, where doctors declared him brought dead.

No suicide note was found at the scene. He is survived by his wife and a two-year-old daughter, police said.
