Delhi man shot dead after minor dispute, second gunfight in Shahdara in three days – Delhi News

A man was fatally shot in northeast Delhi’s Shahdara area on Saturday evening, the second such incident in the past three days. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Sufiyan, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Police found four empty cartridges and bloodstains at the scene.

According to Sufiyan’s family, the dispute started over a cap that one of his friends, identified as Sanam, had taken a few days earlier. Sufiyan reportedly asked for the cap back, which led to an argument and a minor scuffle.

The family alleged that this disagreement escalated, leading Sanam and his associates to fatally attack Sufiyan.

DCP Shahdara, Prashant Gautam, confirmed that a distress call was received around 7.15 pm reporting gunshots in the area.

“When we reached the spot, the deceased person was identified. His name turned out to be Sufiyan, who drove an e-rickshaw and lived in the Sonia Gandhi Camp slum in Gandhi Nagar. We also have the names of the two men who carried out this incident. We have formed a police team and will nab them soon. We found four empty cartridges at the spot,” he said.

In a separate incident on Thursday, a 40-year-old man and his teenage nephew were killed, while a 10-year-old was injured in a shooting outside their home during Diwali festivities.

Police investigation is ongoing and efforts are on to arrest the suspects involved in Sufiyan’s murder.
