Burke will be joined by junior Aniya Roberts, who finished fourth in the 400 meters in 59.35 seconds. Jakyia Cummings also managed the high jump, finishing eighth at 4 feet 10 inches.

The boys will be represented by TJ White, Ziggy Benton and the Red Devils 4×800 meter relay team.

White entered by finishing eighth in the 1,600 meters, running in 4 minutes, 48.76 seconds.

Benton qualified in the triple jump with an effort of 43 feet, 1.5 inches that earned him a seventh-place finish.

The 4×800-meter relay team finished fourth in 8 minutes, 42.90 seconds.

Several other Jackson athletes had strong performances, but did not meet the threshold. Needing an eighth-place finish or better, junior Nehemiah Jones came in ninth in the high jump (6 feet) and 13th in the triple jump (40 feet, 10.5 inches).

Likewise, senior Javier McKibben finished ninth in the 400 meters in 51.61 seconds, just three-tenths of a second shy of a time that would have qualified for state.

Cummings also missed the long jump final, finishing 12th at 15 feet 8 inches.

Jaison McCall finished 10th in the triple jump with a record of 41-7.5.

Senior Javier Reynolds finished 10th in the 800 meters (2:09.38) and junior Santiago Reynolds finished 13th in 2:15.61.
