A woman suffered multiple severe burns to a third of her body Monday morning after the tent she was staying in caught fire.

According to the Des Moines Fire Department, the woman was staying in a tent near Harriet Street when her heater caught fire. She showed up at the fire station around 9 a.m. Monday covered in first- and second-degree burns.

The woman was then taken to hospital for treatment.
