Gary Neville admits what really shocked him about Mohamed Salah at Liverpool after win over Chelsea

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah took his goal tally for the season to seven after scoring a penalty in the 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Gary Neville accused Salah of diving against Chelsea, but the Liverpool winger won’t pay much attention after helping the Reds secure three points.

He took a penalty after a foul on Curtis Jones, but the Blues managed to equalize at Anfield through Nicolas Jackson.

But Salah then became Jones’ supplier as the Liverpool midfielder led an effort to secure another victory for Arne Slot.

The Merseyside team remain top of the Premier League table after the victory and now move on to the Champions League.

Gary Neville left shocked by Liverpool star Mohamed Salah

But there will be plenty for Slot to analyze from the latest success, with Salah no doubt set to attract plenty of attention after another excellent display.

He certainly caught the attention of Gary Neville, who said on the latest episode of The Gary Neville Podcast: “Salah is the one constant that holds them together. It becomes more and more important.

“I was talking before the game about Cole Palmer. Salah shocked me in the sense of his consistency and reliability in his goals, his assists over a long period of time. When he first came to Liverpool, you would never have imagined that he would reach this superstar level that he has, this world-class level.

“And Cole Palmer is doing it now, 15, 16 months later, another six, seven years to get to that level where he can be considered a kind of world-class superstar player like Salah, when you do it over a period of time.

“And he’s a great player for Cole Palmer to look at. He keeps that front line together in terms of composure, Salah. He is hanging on the right side, his strength, his quality.”

Mohamed Salah haunts former club Chelsea at Anfield

Chelsea star Palmer is already shining on the big stage, but he can still learn a lot from his fellow striker Salah.

After struggling to find his feet in west London, the Egyptian is now a Liverpool legend, with 218 goals for the Reds.

Those goals have come from 360 appearances in all competitions to date, with Salah also having 95 assists.

The impressive numbers have helped Liverpool achieve huge success in recent years, with the Anfield faithful desperate for their goals and assists to continue.

Very worryingly, however, Salah will see his contract expire next summer, with the Reds in real danger of losing their talisman for free at the end of the season.

The winger joined the club from Roma in 2017, having played for the Italian side after scoring just two goals in 19 games at Chelsea.
