BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — It’s been eight months since an Augusta woman was found murdered in her home. On Tuesday, the state announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the solution of the case.

The victim was 93-year-old Joanne Johnson. A family member found her body at her home at 1711 Robbins Street last Labor Day weekend. Authorities believe she was killed between Saturday evening September 2, 2023 and Sunday evening September 3, 2023.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Augusta Department of Public Safety investigated the killing.

They say Gov. Laura Kelly issued an executive order offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer(s). Johnson’s family is matching the reward offer, bringing it to $10,000.

Anyone with information about this crime, no matter how minimal the details may seem, is asked to contact the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME or Augusta Crime Stoppers at 316-775-0055.
