Pet of the Week: Meet April O'Neil!

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Meet our Pet of the Week, April O’Neil!

April is a 10-12 year old Maltese-Poodle mix, healthy and ready to find a loving family!

She was abandoned by her previous owner and came to Long Way Home in need of some attention.

“She came to us with another dog named Master Splinter and both of them had really terrible skin infections and a complete disaster all over,” said April Plemons, executive director of LWH. “Yeast infections, skin infections and really thin.”

Plemons said April’s adoptive parents nursed her back to health.

She is now at a healthy weight and her fur is soft and tangle-free again.

April has no teeth because the remaining teeth had to be pulled out during her dental cleaning.

Her little tongue sticks out because of this, preparing her for any selfie!

Plemons said it’s best to give him soft or dehydrated foods.

Plemons adds that April gets along well with everyone and all dogs, and walks well on a leash.

She also becomes attached to the person who takes care of her, which makes her a cuddly and faithful companion.

“She would do great in any home, but one that would have time to cuddle her and give her lots of affection,” Plemons added.
