Starbucks Launches ‘Wicked’-Themed Drinks Ahead of Movie Release

The movie “Wicked” will hit theaters next month and Starbucks is launching a new line of drinks and merchandise in coordination with the film’s release.

The coffee chain said that starting Tuesday, new menu options will be launched inspired by Oz and its beloved characters and places, including the Emerald City.

The latest drinks were inspired by the iconic Oz duo, Glinda and Elphaba.

Starting this week, the coffee chain will introduce a variety of menu items inspired by the world of Oz, including Glinda’s Pink Potion, Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refreshers® topped with iced strawberry foam and sweet sprinkles, and Elphaba’s Cold

Glinda’s Pink Potion is a Starbucks Refreshers® Mango Dragonfruit drink that includes “creamy coconut milk, ice and a scoop of real, freeze-dried dragonfruit.” It will be covered with cold strawberry foam and sprinkled with colorful sprinkles.

Elphaba’s Cold Brew is a peppermint syrup coffee with non-dairy matcha cold foam and green candy sprinkles.

In addition to drinks, customers can also get Wicked-inspired Starbucks cards, among other merchandise.

“Wicked” will be released on November 22 in theaters.

The story imagines the world of “The Wizard of Oz” before Dorothy’s arrival, focusing on the story of two witches, Glinda and Elphaba, who will grow up to become the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West.

“Wicked,” written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, stars Cynthia Erivo as the green-skinned Elphaba Thropp, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, and Ariana Grande as Galinda, the future Good Witch of the South.

The musical debuted in 2003 and was reportedly seen by around 50 million people. The wildly popular show effectively introduced the general public to stars Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel.
