REPORT: Appeals Court Considers Removing Fulton DA From Trump Election Case

The Georgia Court of Appeals announced this morning that it will hear an appeal of a judge’s decision allowing Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis to stay in the county’s election interference case against the former President Donald Trump.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the court’s decision will likely cause a significant delay in the trial of Trump and his 14 co-defendants. It is unclear how long it will take the appeals court to decide.

In March, Fulton Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee issued a “certificate of immediate review,” which allowed Trump and the co-defendants to appeal his decision to the Georgia Court of Appeals before the trial began. .

Trump and eight of the defendants requested the certificate after McAfee ruled there was no real conflict of interest or motive to disqualify Willis from the case after his romance with then-special prosecutor , Nathan Wade.
