Fans ready for Royals and Chiefs Monday night

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Monday night marks an exciting time for Kansas City fans as the Chiefs and Royals play a game and a playoff game, respectively, on the same day.

Some might even call this historic since it has never happened before.

There was one time in 1977 when the teams played the same week: the Chiefs played a Monday Night Football game on October 3, and the Royals played Game 1 of the ALCS against the Yankees on October 5.

Royals fans at Chicken-N-Pickle in Wichita said they were just happy to see the team back in the postseason.

The Royals take the field at 6:38 p.m. against the Yankees in Game 2 of the Division Series. The Yankees lead 1-0.

The Chiefs take on the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium at 7:15 p.m.
