Whoopi Goldberg Jokes About Giving Pope Francis a ‘Sister Act 3’ Cameo

Whoopi Goldberg makes every effort to Sister Act 3even offering Pope Francis a cameo opportunity.

During his appearance on Wednesday May 8 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonGoldberg, 68, spoke about meeting the Pope, 87, at the Vatican in 2023.

“I went to see him and he actually seems to be a bit of a fan,” the actress said. “Sisters ActGood morning?!”

When Fallon, 49, asked if Pope Francis was jumping into the ring for a cameo in his next film, Goldberg replied, “No, but I offered one.” He said he would see what his time would be like.

Earlier in the interview, Goldberg said she “wanted to thank” Pope Francis, adding, “I’ve been trying to meet him for about 10 years. But I stayed very good and had no problems.

Goldberg remained attached to the pope throughout his term in office. “I really like this man because when people talk about who you want (to see), that’s supposed to be the guy you talk to,” she explained. “I love him. And he’s pissed off a lot of people because he’s said things that people don’t think are right, but I say it’s because, you know, you’re the pope. You say: “Look, we welcome everyone. We want everyone to be at our party, you know, we’re not going to judge you.

Sister Act 3 began development in 2020, with Goldberg set to reprise her role as lounge singer-turned-nun Deloris Van Cartier. As soon as the announcement by Sean Baileychairman of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, it was revealed that Tyler Perry had joined as producer alongside Goldberg.

The film, which follows the 1992 film Sisters Act and its 1993 sequel, Sister Act 2: Back to habit, is set to premiere on Disney Plus.

Goldberg has been a staunch advocate of a new Sisters Act film, hinting at the possibility of a third film as early as October 2020.

“For a long time, they kept saying no one wanted to see it,” Goldberg said. The Late Show with James Corden. “And then, just recently, it turned out that maybe that wasn’t true. People might want to see it.

Three years later, View the co-host assured fans that the third installment of the Sisters Act the franchise was “still on the road”, adding: “We’re still writing the script.”

“It’s hard to do everything,” Goldberg explained in March. “And I like to think I can, but I’ve realized that I can’t do as many things simultaneously as I’d like.”
