‘Heeramandi’ actress Aditi Rao Hydari has spoken out against the unfair criticism and trolling faced by her co-star Sharmin Segal. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Aditi’s portrayal of Bibbojaan in the series garnered appreciation from many viewers.

In a recent interview with Puja Talwar, Aditi addressed the negativity surrounding the show and expressed solidarity with Sharmin Segal amid the online backlash.

Slamming trolling, Aditi stressed that it is unacceptable to target anyone because of their performance. She pointed out that while people may have differing opinions, there is a way to express criticism without resorting to cruelty. Aditi expressed concern over the increasingly hostile online environment and called for empathy and support between individuals.

Aditi said: “There is a way to say it. This can get very nasty. It’s become very nasty and I think it’s not fair and it shouldn’t happen like this.

Acknowledging freedom of expression, Aditi acknowledged that some people may choose to engage in petty behavior, but called for a collective effort to combat negativity. She encouraged those who face criticism to focus on the positives and not get discouraged by the negatives.

In ‘Heeramandi’, Aditi plays the character of Mallikajaan, the elder daughter of Manisha Koirala’s character. The series delves into the complex power dynamics between courtesans, Nawabs and British officers in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in pre-Partition India.
