Project 69 Express Announces 119th Street Interchange Ramps to Open on Schedule

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – The reopening of the 119th Street and interchange ramps for the 69 Highway is on schedule, according to a spokesperson for the 69 Express project.

Eastbound and westbound 119th Street and the interchange ramps for U.S. 69 Highway will reopen at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, the Kansas Department of Transportation said Monday night.

With the reopening, access to the Highland Plaza shopping center will also be restored. Business owners in that area spoke to KCTV in August about concerns related to the closure and its impact on area businesses.

During the closure, improvements were made to 119th Street, including the removal and reconstruction of the 119th Street bridge, reconstruction of the street itself, and the freeway access ramps.

Project 69 Express will continue to produce lane closures throughout the remainder of the year.
