Woman arrested by armed police after man’s death

A woman has been arrested in an operation involving armed Gardaí following the death of a 30-year-old man in County Carlow.

The man was found seriously injured and unconscious when officers responded to an incident at New Oak Estate in Carlow town after 11.40pm local time on Monday.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny, where he was pronounced dead.

Shortly afterwards, a woman was arrested in the town of Carlow in a follow-up operation involving local police and the Armed Response Unit (ASU).
