Mahindra XUV 3XO EV spied testing ahead of early 2025 launch – Car News

Mahindra is likely to showcase the XUV 3XO EV at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo in January, followed by a market launch in the first quarter of 2025.

Mahindra has expansive plans when it comes to electric vehicles (EVs), with its full range of Born Electric vehicles introduced a few years ago and set for launch in the coming months. In addition to the new Born Electric models, which will be based on a skateboard EV architecture, Mahindra will continue to focus on affordable electric cars as well.

This will include the XUV400 and the upcoming XUV 3XO EV. Both battery-powered models will be based on the same platform as the old XUV300 and its successor, the XUV 3XO, which in turn is based on the Ssangyong Tivoli sold in South Korea. The upcoming XUV 3XO EV was recently spied testing in Mahabalipuram, Tamilnadu

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: Exterior

The latest set of spy photos shows a partially camouflaged test unit of the electric SUV that looks very familiar to the profile of the current XUV 3XO. While the front end is completely wrapped in camouflage, the rear end opens up revealing exactly the same connected LED taillamp setup as the XUV 3XO, along with the same branding in the center of the tailgate. The images also reveal the charging flap located on the left front fender.

Like the 3XO, its battery-powered counterpart will likely offer a stacked LED headlight setup with a round fog lamp and sealed nose in the center. Other visual highlights include machine-cut black alloy wheels, a gold roof, a shark fin antenna and blacked-out pillars, roof rails and plastic linings on the wheel arches and door sills.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: Interiors

The cabin interior of the XUV 3XO EV looks identical to its fossil fuel-powered sibling. The two-tone theme includes beige seat upholstery and the lower half of the dashboard. The top half of the dashboard is blacked out, with the biggest highlight being a freestanding 10.2-inch infotainment screen surrounded by piano black trim. A similar glossy black finish is offered around the air vents, which looks much more premium.

The direction selector on the center console has copper details. In terms of features, the XUV 3XO EV is set to offer 10.2-inch standalone infotainment system, 10.2-inch instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, LED interior lights, wireless charger, dual-zone climate control , automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, rear air vents and camera-based Level 2 ADAS.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: Expected powertrain

There is still uncertainty about the batteries that will be offered in the XUV 3XO. Currently, the XUV400 is offered in two battery options – 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh, which promise an ARAI-rated range of 375 km and 456 km, respectively, on a single charge. As it will be positioned below the XUV400, the 3XO will likely have a slightly less powerful electric motor driving the front wheels.
